I got into a taxi of four people, the driver made a comment, down you think its the end of the world with all these things going on today, she said. its like everything in the bible happening again” I smiled to myself, I knew she was not a Christian and this was the first time she had met me. Good question I said. It is remarkable life the plagues of the Old Testament. Floodings in Houston, California fires, mud slides then, fires, Australian fires, The locusts in Kenya and Asia, the Corona Virus in China then Italy, then globally. The crisis goes on!
You remember the plagues, God sent in the times of Moses,
- Water turned to blood (Exodus 7:14-25).
- Frogs cover the land (Exodus 8:1-15).
- The dust turns into gnats or lice (Exodus 8:16-19).
- Swarms of flies cover the land (Exodus 8:20-32).
- Death of all Egyptian livestock (Exodus 9:1-7).
- Boils break out on the people of Egypt (Exodus 9:8-12).
- Hailstorms kill unsheltered humans, animals, and vegetation (Exodus 9:13-35).
- Locusts cover the land and consume all remaining vegetation (Exodus 10:1-20).
- Darkness covers Egypt for three days (Exodus 10:21-29).
- The firstborn children of all Egyptian people and cattle die (Exodus 11:1-10, 12:29-32).
Does not sound too uncommon to events today. So does God judge nations today. First of all I believe that God is the same Yesterday today and forever. He still administers justice for what he was then he is now, a judge. He still saves now as then for what he was then he is now. His justice nor his mercy changes for he is unchangeable.
What about Calvary you say, wasn’t that where God judged man by placing his punishment on his son. This is true but this does mean that all men everywhere are now saved. The wrath of God is still on those who do not believe. Its those who accept his person and commandments that have been made free from the law of sin and death
Why would God judge the earth? I asked this question to my American Friend Pastor Valdez, He told me America has had more gospel than anyone and they have turned their back on God therefore the judgement is harsher on them for rejecting the God they know about. What about China? could it be that the Chinese authorities that have long time held God’s people in bondage and oppression because of their faith in Christ is also now being judged, just as God judged the Egyptians for enslaving his people in bible times? Strange how the epidemic started in China!
In the book of Exodus where we read of the plagues, we are told that God told his people to keep indoors and apply the blood over their homes. then when the angel of death came they would be protested and not know the plagues other household.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12;12-14).
God promises protection for his people. if they obeyed him and punishment on the unrighteous if they disobeyed him. The same happens today. For us there is hope and there is hope for anyone who chooses the lamb of God Jesus Christ and applies his salvation to their household through faith in his name. Yes for us, our redemption is certain, salvation is real, we have no need to fear what the wold fears. they don’t know why this take place. but we do because we fear the Lord and it is in trusting him can we be rescued and delivered.
Psalm 91;9-11 talks about the reward of the wicked and the promise of protection for the righteous.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thyshield and buckler.5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
