Pentecost and the Name of Jesus

  • Matthew 3:11 New International Version (NIV) 11  “I baptize you with [ a ] water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with [ b ] the Holy Spirit and fire.

Mark 1;5 and mark 1;8. reveal that John had baptised as an outward symbol alone while Jesus came to baptise man for a whole change of person. John could not baptise for the remission of sins as remission of sins was not available until Calvary. John baptism therefore was a type of salvation but not itself salvation. The name of Jesus was not the revelation of John. The name of Jesus came with Jesus, and with misname came his command to baptise all nations in his name. (Matthew 28;19).

‘I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance’ said John, ‘but he that his coming after me is mightier than I,’ John stopped with repentance, his baptism could take man not further than repentance. Man could therefore repent and repent and repent many time over without receiving the mercy of knowing that their sins were forgiven. Only Jesus could forgive sins and do so. this then is why baptism for the remission of sins in his name was therefore the later practice of the disciples at pentecost.

Today many leave out the name of Jesus at baptism, which means in essence they still practice a Johns baptism and not Jesus baptism or what we call salvation as in acts, hence you have an “easy believism”  gospel and not the true gospel of acts 238. A false conversion too.

Luke 24;45 tells us that after Jesus appeared to the disciples he “opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures… it was here that they received the revelation of the name and the power of it.

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (v47) and And ye are witnesses of these things (v48)

From now on they would themselves be witnesses of the death, burial and resurrection, why they themselves would partake of his death burial and resurrection. It would be as if they themselves were there at his death, burial and reduction for they would enter into that which he entered into and the same then would be for all men who would also take on his name.

“Forgness of sins in his name,” this then is the power and spirit of pentecost. Pentecost is a revelation of the name. There is no such thing as a pentecostal meeting without the revelation of the name. There is no such thing as Pentecost without baptism in Jesus name. BAPTISM IN JESUS name is baptism by Jesus. Jesus is the one who baptises us when we call his name. Hence we are his through baptism and become part of the family that bear his name. Pentecost the event, baptism the experience.

The Jews receive Pentecost was salvation coming to the Jews. Acts2. The Gentiles receive Pentecost was salvation coming to the Gentiles. Discover more in my book, below.
